Trails Update (6/9/08) 

Snowmobile Trails-
Silver Bay is right in the heart of north-eastern Minnesota's snowmobile trails. We have access to both local and state trails, stretching along Lake Superior's north shore from Duluth to the Canadian border. Well-groomed trails interconnect with surrounding communities. Ample parking is available. Local trails are well maintained by the Silver Trail Riders club. Donations for trail maintainence are appreciated and may be sent to P.O Box 55, Silver Bay, MN 55614. Hiking Trails-
Silver Bay offers access to numerous hiking trails, including the Superior Hiking Trail, which weaves through area forests and hills, revealing breathtaking views between Duluth and Grand Marais. Scenic vistas abound. Click to view the area
map (178 K). Newly added is the Superior Advantage overlook which adds excellent views of the city and Lake Superior.

Ski Trails-
Feel like skiing? Silver Bay has access to miles of well-groomed cross-country ski trails which pass through beautiful Tettegouche State Park and Bean and Bear lakes, whcih offers breath-taking views of the Sawtooth Mountains. These trails are one of Silver Bay's best kept secrets and include trails for all skill levels. Click to view area map (13 K).

Lake Superior Water Trail-
Lake Superior is the largest freshwater lake in the world. The State of Minnesota has set up a water trail for sea kayakers along the shores of Lake Superior. It will eventually extend the entire way around Lake Superior. Click here for maps of the sections in the Silver Bay Area.

Mountain Biking-
If you are a mountain biking enthusiast, you will find some top-quality trails in our area. Some bases to start exploring the area include the McDougal Lake Tour and the Nickel Lake Area.
